Working with the Groups

Working with the Groups

Groups section is used to create groups (instead of predefined weight categories) based on the weight of athletes. It is mainly used for categories containing children or young adults, where the weights of athletes inside one age category can be unpredictable.

To be able to see the Groups view at least one of age categories you are using for you competition must have its Group Type set to groups. Please check the article  Categories menu to find out how to set or change the grouping type.
Before creating groups you have to weigh the competitors or manually confirm them. However, if you do not enter weight (or use weight control) you can not distribute athletes to groups automatically.

You can use the "Create groups" button to automatically create groups. A pop-up window will appear where you can set the group size. The algorithm will try to create even groups based on the total number of athletes in the age category. You can also create an empty to be filled later by pressing Add group. Expand left tree menu to see the created groups.

When groups are created, you can still move athletes from one to another. Simply check athletes you want to move and drag & drop them to the tree menu on the desired group.

It is not obligatory to enter weight. In this case, you have to create groups manually (Add group), and drag & drop athletes into created groups.
