Working with the Groups

Working with the Groups

The Groups section allows you to create flexible groups based on the actual weight of athletes, instead of using predefined weight categories. This approach is especially useful for children and young adults, where athlete weights within a single age category can vary greatly.

To enable the Groups view, at least one age category in your competition must have its Group Type set to Groups. You can learn how to configure this in the article: Categories Menu.

Alert
Before creating groups, you must either weigh the competitors or confirm them manually. Please note: if no weight is entered (either manually or via weight control), athletes cannot be automatically distributed into groups.

Creating Groups

Before you can create groups, you must either weigh the competitors or manually confirm their participation. Note: If you do not enter weights (either manually or through weight control), the system cannot automatically assign athletes to groups.

To automatically create groups, click the Create Groups button. A pop-up window will appear, allowing you to define the preferred group size. The system will then try to create balanced groups based on the total number of athletes in the selected age category.

You can also create empty groups manually by clicking Add Group, and fill them later.

Once groups are created, you can move athletes between them. To do so, select the athletes, then drag and drop them into the desired group using the left-side tree menu.

When groups are created, you can still move athletes from one to another. Simply check athletes you want to move and drag & drop them to the tree menu on the desired group.

Manual Grouping Without Weights

If you do not plan to enter athlete weights, you will need to create groups manually using the Add Group button. Then, simply drag and drop athletes into the groups as needed.

Clearing Groups

If you have created test groups that you do not wish to use in the competition, simply select the appropriate age category and click the Clear All button. This will remove all groups for that category. You can then either recreate the groups automatically or add them manually.
