Interface Overview and Live Operations

Controller Interface

The CGplay controller interface (UI) is divided into the Main Control Panel at the top and the operational tabs (MEDALISTS, LOWER 3rd, and DEBUG) at the bottom. To reveal or hide the lower panels, click the button labeled SHOW MANUAL TRIGGER / DEBUG  located on the bottom right side of the screen.

The upper section of the UI manages both standard live graphics and advanced cloud statistics:

  1. Status Indicators: The top left features the ONLINE/OFFLINE  indicator (verifying the CasparCG rendering connection) and the UDP ONLINE  indicator (verifying the active JudoNet data flow), alongside the current DisplayMode  on the Scoreboard.
  2. CLEAR ALL  A switch that instantly removes all active graphics from the stream. Use this cautiously.
  3. Mat nr.  The numeric selector assigns the current CG window to a designated mat. This ensures the graphics engine only reacts to data arriving from that specific tatami.
  4. Contest info  The marked area shows the contest code, contest clock (including golden score), competitors, current score, and the referee.
  5. Competition Name  A text field allows the operator to manually verify or override the title of the event. This text is automatically pulled into specific templates.
  6. Standard Graphics Engine: Manual triggers and their accompanying auto checkboxes are provided for core visual elements:
    1. TEAMS  Displays graphics of team competitions of countries or clubs.
    2. INTRO BIG  Triggers expanded, specialized introduction graphics.

    1. REF  Displays the assigned mat referees.

    1. INTRO  Presents the competitor names, countries, and flags.

    1. MAIN SCORE  Triggers the main live scoreboard during the active contest.

    1. WIN  Triggers the animated winner announcement banner.

  1. Advanced statistics: This middle section controls data fetched from the external cloud:
    1. MAIN: PREDICTION  Fan Voting: This module triggers the live fan prediction graphics on the stream. The UI includes an auto template prediction checkbox, a Getdata button, and two numeric input boxes for the White and Blue competitors. These boxes display the live prediction percentages from fans voting in the Prediction League on JudoTV. You can utilize a manual override by typing percentages directly into these fields.

    1. MAIN: VERSUS H2H / VERSUS CONTEST / VERSUS GS  Historical Analytics: This module manages the statistical graphics that compare the two competitors.
      1. VERSUS H2H displays the lifetime Head-to-Head win/loss record between the two competitors.
      2. VERSUS CONTEST shows individual historical career win percentages.
      3. VERSUS GS highlights their statistical performance in the Golden Score.
      1. Clicking the Getdata versus button queries the JudoBase to fetch these official historical records. By enabling the auto versus H2H and auto versus GS checkboxes, operators allow the system to automatically sequence these graphics onto the stream.
    1. Manual Contest Code Override  A Manual Contest Code Long checkbox allows the operator to override the automated feed and force a specific contest ID into the system.
  1. Hidden Context Menu (Quad Preview): Right-clicking the ONLINE/OFFLINE status indicator reveals a hidden menu:
    1. Set quad preview channel: Opens a dialog box where the operator can enter a destination channel number (e.g., 5). This routes a miniaturized version of the active mat to that specific CasparCG/NDI channel. By sending multiple mats to the same destination channel, operators can build a multi-viewer for central monitoring.
    2. Clear quad channel: Removes the active mat from the quad preview routing.

Automated Sequences & Timers

Live action requires multiple graphics playing one after another (e.g., an INTRO BIG followed immediately by REF, INTRO, and MAIN SCORE). The UI offers auto checkboxes to automate sequential templates without requiring the operator to click multiple buttons. For WIN, MAIN PREDICTION, and MAIN VERSUS the UI utilizes numeric timer boxes:
  1. On after sec: Delays the appearance of a graphic. For example, setting the VERSUS stats to 35 ensures that once the initial INTRO sequence is triggered, the system will run a background timer and automatically push the VERSUS graphic to the live stream exactly 35 seconds later.
  2. Off after sec: Automatically removes a graphic after a set time. For example, the WIN graphic uses an Off after sec: 7 parameter to automatically fade out the winner template after 7 seconds.

Operational Tabs & Manual Graphics

The bottom tabs are used for custom text graphics, award ceremonies (Manual Graphics & Award Ceremonies) and debug (Troubleshooting).

Operator Pre-Event Checklist

Before the competition block the CG operator must complete a final validation:
Confirm the JudoManager (JM) server is running and the competition is fully set up (categories, entries, and draw completed).
Verify JudoNet and CasparCG are running properly and network connectivity is established (run a ping test).
Windows time is synced to the local time zone across JudoManager PC, JudoNet PC, and Graphics PC.
Windows updates are disabled on all computers.
The Dry Pass: Run a full test contest before going live. Switch the test scoreboard through all states to validate that the graphics render flawlessly.

Live Streaming Best Practices

  1. Monitor Status Indicators: Always keep an eye on the top bar; ensure that ONLINE and UDP ONLINE remain green.
  2. Transition Coordination: Keep auto template checked for the MAIN SCORE. If you choose to operate other graphics manually without their auto features enabled, coordinate visually with the action on the mat so you do not lag behind the live event.
  3. Trust the Data: You should not attempt to override packet-driven outcomes with manual graphics. If there is a scoring error, the table official must fix it on the mat scoreboard so the corrected data flows naturally to your stream.
  4. Golden Score: The system handles Golden Score transitions automatically based on scoreboard data; no manual action is needed.
  5. Emergency Text Overrides: If you need to inform the audience of an unexpected situation, you can navigate to the LOWER 3rd tab to push a custom text graphic to the live stream.

FAQ

  1. Is the graphic operation mostly automatic during a contest? Yes. The DisplayMode values (e.g., 6=Contest, 7=ContestWinner, 9=Category) drive the majority of live graphical changes automatically once the system is connected and the specific "auto template" boxes are enabled.
  2. What exactly does the "CLEAR ALL" button do? It acts as a panic switch, instantly removing all active graphics from the stream.
  3. What is the fast-recovery procedure if CG freezes mid-contest? The fast-recovery procedure is simply to restart the CGplay application. Once restarted and enabled, the system will instantly ingest the next UDP packet broadcasted by JudoNet and automatically update the graphics to reflect the current live state of the scoreboard.
  4. What does restarting CG between days or time blocks do? It flushes the computer's RAM. The Flash renderer can slowly accumulate memory leaks, so restarting clears out that trapped memory and prevents software crashes during long tournament days.
  5. Why do the advanced statistics graphics (Predictions or Versus stats) fail to appear when I trigger them? The advanced statistics modules (like MAIN: PREDICTION and the VERSUS overlays) are designed to supplement the active contest. Because of this, these specific graphics will only render on screen if the MAIN SCORE graphic is already active and visible on the broadcast. If the main scoreboard is hidden or turned off, triggering these advanced buttons will have no visual effect.
  6. What does the "Set quad preview channel" option do in the hidden menu? The quad preview feature builds a combined quad-split multi-viewer feed for central monitoring. This allows the operator to see the live status of four mats at once on just one display.
  7. Why didn't the winner graphic appear automatically at the end of the contest? First, verify that the auto template win feature is checked on your control panel. Secondly, ensure the table officials have officially confirmed the result on the mat scoreboard.
  8. Are manual steps required for Team Decision contest or DSQ templates?
No, these specific graphics are triggered automatically.
    1. DSQ (Disqualification): When a direct Hansoku-make or a third Shido is entered into the scoreboard, graphic instantly updates to display the HSK status.
    1. Decision contest (Tie-Breaker): If a team match is tied, the decision contest is initiated. The Main Scoreboard template is automatically rendered as golden score.
